Data API
A JSON API. District figures are free for everyone without a key, within limits. An API plan gives your organisation a key that opens the REST postcode summary, and adds the category breakdown on MCP, with a monthly request quota in place of the free limits:
- Postcode districts, free. The 12-month total, the monthly series, the category mix, and a comparison with the police force that covers the district, by district code or for the district of a postcode.
- Postcode summaries, with a key. Published counts by category in the fixed 0.5 km circle around a postcode, the same circle our neighbourhood reports use.
AI assistants can use the same figures through our MCP server. Every response carries the Open Government Licence attribution, a link to the area's page, and a citation. See the API documentation for requests and example responses.

Free, no key

District figures, and the site's free postcode check through the MCP server, without a key: 5 requests a minute and 100 a day for each IP address (each /64 network for IPv6), while a cap shared by all free callers allows. Calls from Anthropic's, Google's and OpenAI's published networks share one allowance for each platform instead: 30 requests a minute and 5,000 a day. The postcode summary endpoint needs a key.
