The Move report is a neighbourhood report for people looking at a home in England. It is the 5-year report with extra pages of official open data around the postcode. It costs £29.99.
The crime pages
The 5-year report comes first. It covers published street-crime records in a fixed circle of about 0.5 km around the postcode, over the five years up to the latest published month. It shows the category mix, the monthly and year-by-year trend, published outcomes, a density map with no incident pins, and comparisons with the police force area and with England and Wales. An appendix lists up to the 300 most recent published records. A page called “The wider area” gives the published rates of the postcode’s sector and district, where the site publishes them. How to read a neighbourhood report explains each section.
The area pages
The area pages follow, under the heading “Moving here: area data”. They are not crime figures and are not combined with them. Sold prices and flood risk cover the postcodes whose centres lie within 0.5 km of the searched postcode’s centre. Broadband covers the searched postcode and those postcodes. Schools are searched up to 2 km away.
- Sold prices. Up to 15 of the most recent standard residential sales in those postcodes, and the median sold price by year and property type, from HM Land Registry Price Paid Data. A median appears only where there were at least five sales. Repossessions, buy-to-let, and company sales are left out.
- Nearest schools. Up to eight open establishments nearest the postcode, measured in a straight line between postcode centres, from the Department for Education’s Get Information About Schools register. Distance is not a catchment, so check admissions with the school or the local authority.
- Flood risk. The postcode’s own highest risk band, and how many postcodes in the circle fall in each band, from the Environment Agency’s rivers and sea flood risk data. The risk is for the area around an address, not the address itself. Surface-water risk is not published by postcode, so it is not shown.
- Broadband. The share of the postcode’s premises that can get gigabit and superfast broadband, and the share of postcodes in the circle where every premises, or at least one, can get each, from Ofcom Connected Nations. Ofcom does not publish full-fibre availability by postcode.
The area pages name the edition of each dataset and its licence.
England only
The schools register and the flood risk data cover England only, so the Move report is sold only for postcodes in England. For a postcode in Wales, choose the 5-year report.
The other reports
- The 12-month report is free. It covers the last 12 months in the same circle and needs an email address.
- The 5-year report costs £19.99. It covers five years, with year-by-year charts and the records appendix.
Prices and sample reports are on the neighbourhood reports page.
