Buying agents, relocation firms, conveyancers, and property platforms often need the published police figures we show on CrimeMapsUK inside their own tools. The business page covers the ways to get them.

The data API

The API returns JSON over HTTPS and is read-only. District figures are free without a key, for people, scripts, and AI assistants, within the limits in the API documentation. An API plan gives your organisation a key that opens the REST postcode summary, and adds the category breakdown on MCP, with a monthly request quota in place of the free limits. Every successful call made with the key counts against that quota, district calls included. There are three endpoints:

Only successful keyed responses count against the quota, and the count resets at the start of each calendar month. When the quota is used up, the API answers with error 429 until the next month. Without a key, a spent limit also gets 429, with a Retry-After header saying how many seconds to wait. We show a key once, when we create it, and store only its hash.

Every response carries the Open Government Licence attribution, a link to the area’s page on CrimeMapsUK, and a citation. Show the attribution wherever you display the figures, and link the page. The API documentation has the requests, example responses, and errors, and the OpenAPI contract describes every field. AI assistants can use the same figures as tools through our MCP server.

The free district widget

Each postcode district page has an “Embed this on your site” snippet. The widget shows the district’s 12-month total and top categories, links back to the district page, and sets no cookies. It is free.

Report packs

A pack of five 5-year neighbourhood reports costs £79.99. Each voucher redeems one report, and you choose the postcode when you redeem it. For larger volumes, ask through the business enquiry form.

Prices and keys

District figures need no key. For a key, the business page lists the API plans and their monthly prices. You buy a plan on Stripe’s payment page, and we email your key within one working day. For more requests than the plans include, use the business enquiry form.

What the data is

The API and the widget use the same published data.police.uk records as the rest of the site. They are counts of published police records, not all crime, and not a safety score. Police locations are approximate, and the API returns counts, not incident locations. The methodology page explains how the figures are built.
